Unit Structure
Each practice test has five sections - exactly like a real test. In
the sample pages you can see a typical exam and try some of the exercises
and activities.
 |
Practise your reading skills and learn strategies
for Paper 1, the Reading section of the exam. These
include skimming to understand the general idea expressed
in a text, scanning to find specific information, and reading
in detail for the main ideas, opinions and facts. |
| |
 |
Practise your writing skills for Paper 2,
the Writing section of the exam. These include completing
the task appropriately, organising and linking your
ideas, writing accurately and with a good range of vocabulary.
You will practise both parts of the Writing section and receive
useful feedback and correction from your tutor. |
| |
 |
Practise the five parts of Paper 3, the
Use of English section of the exam, including vocabulary,
text completion, sentence transformations, text
correction and word formation. As in all sections of
the practice exams, your answers will be automatically corrected
and you will be given your score. |
| |
 |
Practise the different listening skills you will
need for Paper 4, the Listening section of the exam.
These include listening for specific information, listening
for main ideas and listening to understand the speaker's
opinion. |
| |
 |
Practise your speaking skills for Paper 5,
the Speaking section of the exam. You will closely follow
the format of the actual exam, where you will have to talk
about yourself, describe pictures and relate them to
your personal experience, as well as discuss and develop
a topic, and express and justify your opinions. You
will practise this section speaking with your tutor and will receive
useful feedback and advice for when you do the exam. |
