Net Languages currently offers two methodology courses designed for English teachers – one which is targeted at teachers of primary classes, and the other which is more suitable for teachers of secondary or adult classes.
The courses are designed for teachers with or without experience. The 10 units in each course cover a wide range of relevant areas such as classroom management, teaching writing, doing projects, songs and games, amongst others.
Students are provided with their own personal tutor, to whom they send regular assignments based on their classroom teaching or on their familiarity with current ELT materials. The tutor will provide feedback and advice. Students are also invited to exchange opinions and experiences with other students on the course-specific noticeboards.
Course contents
On completion of the Primary level Methodology course, students will have studied – and sent tasks to their tutors about – the following topic areas:
- Classroom organisation
- Lesson aims
- Learner styles
- Teaching words
- Drills and chants
- Listening activities
- Coursebooks
- Writing
- Projects
- Continuous assessment
On completion of the Secondary/Adult level Methodology course, students will have studied – and sent tasks to their tutors about – the following topic areas:
- Classroom management
- Planning a unit of work
- Selecting and grading vocabulary
- Practising grammar
- Exploiting learners' errors
- Speaking activities and discussions
- Developing listening skills
- Teaching writing
- Using the Internet
- Course evaluation and self-evaluation
